Why do so many people walk around looking at their phones?

I'll be blunt. It pisses me off. I'm really getting tired of bumping into people in the city when they walk around while looking down at their phones. PLEASE move to the side and STOP WALKING if you need to look at your phone!
Am I the only one that feels this way?

    Sorry, I've been guilty of this when checking out MR2 Australia, and now with Ozcelica as well, I'll be doing it even more...lol
